Bird watching or birding
Can be recreational.
I love watching birds.
They are not a common sight, in our city life.
Fortunately we have a wonderful Bird Park.
The park have made every effort possible,
to provide the birds with a conducive environment.
Accomplishing a next to nature habitat.
This clip shows the birds in their own world.
Here is to share..
The world's tallest artificial man made waterfall,

P.P.P : Parrots, Pigeons and Penguin at the Bird Park

These dramatic looking pigeons, looked like they have backstage makeup.
These are the CROWNED PIGEONS.
The crowned pigeons differ from other pigeons in possessing a large,
fan-shaped crest of erect lacy feathers.

PARROTS.
The bold, colorful and intelligent birds.
All parrots have curved beaks and all have 4 toes on each foot,
2 pointing front and the other 2 pointing back.
Many parrots are kept as pets because they are intelligent and musical.
They are fun because some can imitate human speech.
Parrots can live to about 80yrs in the wild.
Did you know Lovebirds are parrots.
According to Wikipedia: Lories and Lorikeets..
Lories and lorikeets are small to medium-sized arboreal parrots characterized by their specialized brush-tipped tongues for feeding on nectar and soft fruits. The species form a monophyletic group within the parrot family Psittacidae. Traditionally, they were considered one of the two subfamilies in that family (Loriinae), the other being the subfamily Psittacinae, but new insights show that it is placed in the middle of various other groups. To date, this issue has not been resolved scientifically. They are widely distributed throughout the Australasian region, including south-eastern Asia, Polynesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and Australia, and the majority have very brightly colored plumage.

Tuxedo guys.
PENGUINS.
Penguins are birds but unlike most birds, they cannot fly.
Their body is shaped like a torpedo and it makes them very efficient in swimming.
Their average speed in the water is about 15miles per hour.
Penguins cannot breathe underwater,
therefore they will get a gulp of air before diving into the water
and they are able to hold their breath for a long time.
In the wild 75% of their time is spend underwater in search
for food in the ocean. In the water they will dive
and flap their wings and that makes it look like they are flying.

Flame: Flamingos at the Bird Park

The word flamingo comes from the Latin word for flame.
An adult flamingo legs are longer than its body.
The flamingo eye is larger than its brain.
These elegant and sometimes balletic birds look so graceful.

Living in harmony with the little ducks.

Different shades of colours.

A graceful looking toy..

They live in very large flocks.
These wonderful birds can live to be about 50yrs old.

See this colony of Flamingos from a distant.

The good looking and funny birds...amazing birds at the Bird Park

These birds are so cute and charming.
I enjoyed watching them.

These two were chatting for quite a while.
Till one tried to get too close.
See what happened in the video below.

Take note of the cheeky one.
Opps! Got too close, too heavy, it fell of the branch.

This shy one was hiding its face.

Revealed! it's really quite a handsome looking duck.

This handsome guy barks like a puppy and not quacks.

I thought this 'chick' was dead but it's actually sleeping.
It got up suddently and went chasing after the Scarlet Ibis.
The security guard.

This one was patrolling up and down while I was there.
It looked like it's the security bird for the pond.

It will stroll back down and up again repeatedly.

Scarlet Ibis........ red, red, red, at the Bird Park

I was bird watching
And
The red, red, red colour of these birds were so bright.
They captivated me from afar...

This video shows them fishing.

Awesome birds at the Bird Park

Rare and awesome.
This large Owl.
Look at those big round eyes.

and perky ears that was hidden earlier.

This Saddle-Billed Stork can almost double its height when it stands up.

Up-close.

Sits like a dog.

Ostrich is the biggest and tallest living bird.

Throat vibration.

Pelicans at the Bird Park

I admire these lovely birds and the freedom they have in their territories.
'Free as a bird.'
There are many breeds of birds.
Each kind having their own characteristics.
Like these Pelicans.
Known for their beaks, which they fill with gulps of water,
straining out the liquid and eating the remaining fish or squid.
Is remarkable.
This is a  shot of them cleaning themselves.
Observed how thorough...
