Murano : Fine art of Venice

Flamboyant, intricate, lavish, elegant and sometimes beautifully gaudy, i.e. rococo..
Are words, I would describe of things one can find in Europe.
These days, avant-garde designs can be found in many things too.
Venice was no exception.
Like at this fabulous Murano fine glass gallery.
So spectacular were the merchandises.
You will be spoilt for choices from the baroque to the avant-garde.

Something for the home?
Maybe a chandelier.

Murano
Fine and delicate pieces of art.

We were told..
Among the colors..
red with gold is the highest price.

An extensive array of merchandises.
There must be something for the house?

In all shapes and sizes.

Small figurines.

Lovely bells.

Modern artistic vases.

A Baroque Wall Mirror.

Luxurious Chandeliers.

This is one of their master pieces.

Short videos : on how the glass was being shaped into an object by the master.

The kiln.

When you visit Venice,
don't miss the Murano glass gallery
and like the host said..
"There are many imitations.. be sure to get the original."

Interesting stuff in this shop.
This piece looked similar to the one displayed at the Art Gallery,

Venice, Italy

Venice, a city in northern Italy is also known as
'City of Water' or 'City of Bridges'.
Built on 118 small islands, 150 canals, connected by 400 bridges, 3 main canals.
Venice is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
This 'water taxi ' was my transport to Venice.
Choppy waters.

So choppy was the sea.
I am glad I didn't have to arrive in this.

Every mode of transport is on water or on foot.
Gondolas, the classical Venetian boats.

Wow! Venice
So cold, well, it's winter and so near the sea.
Surrounded by water.

So lovely and fresh even in winter.

As elaborated as those buildings that I have seen at the beginning of the trip.
The buildings in Venice were as interesting and magnificent.
There was a bad flood.
And we would have to walk on these elevated planks
had we been a day earlier.

Side canals.

Jetty for hopping onto a gondola.

One of the many small bridges.

The scene around was like a movie.
It would be better if the gondoliers had sung.

Narrow pathway.
But the gondoliers could skillfully steer the gondolas with their poles.
Overtaking!
That was what our muscled gondolier did.
And thanks to him, we won.
Are there speed limits?
It was fun.

Saw this small and narrow passageway
that could get you through to the other side of the building.

Some remained simple,
others were interestingly decorated.

The canals would be very attractive
had they decorated them up in different styles.

Like a bicycle being parked outside the home.
This gondola was doing the same.

Is this a garage for the gondola.

Ponte di Rialto
Bridge on The Grand Canal.

All sorts of boats were being parked alongside the canal.
The Grand Canal.

There were 6 of us on the gondola and from the speed of this clip,
you can tell this guy is strong.

St Mark's Square, the heart of Venice.

Piazetta San Marco.

St Mark's Basillica.

Admire the architectural details of this marvelous Cathedral.

Piazza San Marco.
Famous for its pigeons.

A shopper paradise.

Venetian Carnavale Masks worn at the Carnival of Venice.

Venice a 'City of Water and Bridges'.
A Romantic City.
